Public Utilities (Electricity Supply) (Amendment) Regulations 2002

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 130 of the Public Utilities Act (1996 Ed.) read with section 73(5) of the Public Utilities Act (2002 Ed.), the Energy Market Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Trade and Industry, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Public Utilities (Electricity Supply) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st December 2002.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. Regulation 2 of the Public Utilities (Electricity Supply) Regulations (Rg 3) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the definition of “appointed electrical worker” and substituting the following definition:

“ “Authority” means the Energy Market Authority of Singapore established under the Energy Market Authority of Singapore Act (Cap. 92B);”;

(b)

by deleting the definition of “electrical contractor” and substituting the following definition:

“ “electrical worker” means an electrical worker who is licensed as such by the Authority under section 82 of the Electricity Act (Cap. 89A);”; and

(c)

by deleting the definition of “licensed electrical contractor”.

Miscellaneous amendments

3. The Public Utilities (Electricity Supply) Regulations are amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “Board” wherever it appears in the following provisions and substituting in each case the word “Authority”:

Regulations 3 (4), 4(2), 5(3) and (5) (2nd line), 6(3) and (4) (penultimate line), 7(6) (3rd and last lines), 8 (1st, 3rd and penultimate lines) and 9(1) (7th line);

(b)

by deleting the words “a licensed electrical contractor” in regulation 4(1) and substituting the words “an electrical worker”;

(c)

by deleting the words “appointed electrical worker” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “electrical worker who holds a licence of the appropriate class as specified in the Electricity (Electrical Workers) Regulations 2002 (G.N. No. S 602/2002)”:

Regulations 5(1)(b), 7(1)(b) and (4)(a) and 8 (1st and 2nd lines);

(d)

by deleting the words “appointed electrical worker” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “electrical worker”:

Regulations 5 (2) and 7(2); and

(e)

by deleting the words “a licensed electrical contractor” in regulation 11(3)(a) and substituting the words “an electrical worker who holds a licence of the appropriate class as specified in the Electricity (Electrical Workers) Regulations 2002 (G.N. No. S 602/2002)”.
