Smoking (Prohibition in
Certain Places) (Amendment)
Regulations 2024

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 11(1) of the Smoking (Prohibition in Certain Places) Act 1992, the National Environment Agency, with the approval of the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations are the Smoking (Prohibition in Certain Places) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 and come into operation on 1 February 2024.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. In the Smoking (Prohibition in Certain Places) Regulations 2018 (G.N. No. S 867/2018) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations), in regulation 2 —

(a)

delete the definition of “public swimming pool”; and

(b)

after the definition of “specified educational institution”, insert —

“ “swimming pool” means —

(a)

any swimming pool owned by the Government;

(b)

any swimming pool that is —

(i)	accessible to the public, whether or not admission is gained by payment; and
(ii)	managed, operated or run by any hotel, club, association or other organisation; or

(c)

any swimming pool within the common property of any private residential premises or building;”.

Amendment of First Schedule

3. In the principal Regulations, in the First Schedule, in Part 1, in item 7, delete “public”.

Amendment of Second Schedule

4. In the principal Regulations, in the Second Schedule —

(a)

replace paragraph (zo) with —

“(zo)

generally north‑west along Penang Road until its junction with Killiney Road;”;

(b)

replace paragraph (zp) with —

“(zp)

generally south‑west along Killiney Road until its junction with Exeter Road;”;

(c)

delete paragraph (zq);

(d)

in paragraph (zr), after “Exeter Road”, insert “and Devonshire Road”; and

(e)

replace the map with —

“

”.
