Legal Aid and Advice
(Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2024

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 23(1) of the Legal Aid and Advice Act 1995, the Minister for Law makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations are the Legal Aid and Advice (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2024 and come into operation on 1 August 2024.

Amendment of regulation 15

2. In the Legal Aid and Advice Regulations (Rg 1), in regulation 15 —

(a)

in paragraph (1), replace “$1,000” with “$1,500”; and

(b)

replace paragraph (6) with —

“(6) Paragraphs (1) to (5) apply despite any agreement between the Director and the solicitor on the rates of solicitor and client costs (including disbursements) payable to the solicitor for the solicitor’s services for cases assigned by the Director to the solicitor.”.
