Merchant Shipping Act
(Chapter 179)
Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) (Amendment) Regulations 2005
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 100 of the Merchant Shipping Act, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2006.
Amendment of Regulation 3-6 of Chapter II-1
2.  Regulation 3-6 of Chapter II-1 of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Regulations (Rg 11) is amended —
(a)by deleting the Regulation heading and substituting the following Regulation heading:
Access to and within Spaces in, and forward of, the Cargo Area of Oil Tankers and Bulk Carriers”;
(b)by deleting the words “1st January 2005” in paragraph (a)(i) and substituting the words “1st January 2006”;
(c)by deleting the words “within the cargo area” in paragraph (b)(i);
(d)by deleting the words “a permanent” in paragraph (b)(i);
(e)by deleting the words “resolution MSC.133 (76)” in paragraph (b)(ii) (2) and substituting the words “resolution MSC.158(78)”;
(f)by inserting, immediately after the words “bottom space” in paragraph (c)(ii), the words “or to forward ballast tanks”; and
(g)by deleting the words “in the cargo area” in paragraph (d)(ii).
