Environmental Public Health (Control of
Noise At Construction Sites)
(Amendment) Regulations 1999
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 114 of the Environmental Public Health Act, the Minister for the Environment hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Environmental Public Health (Control of Noise at Construction Sites) (Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into operation on 22nd February 1999.
Amendment of regulation 3
2.  Regulation 3 of the Environmental Public Health (Control of Noise at Construction Sites) Regulations (Rg 14) is amended by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph:
(2)  For the purposes of paragraph (1), noise level readings shall —
(a)for the period between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. be taken —
(i)50 metres from the boundary of the construction site if an affected building is located within 50 metres of that boundary; and
(ii)one metre away from the outside of an affected building if the affected building is more than 50 metres away from the boundary of the construction site; and
(b)for the period between 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. be taken one metre away from the outside of any affected building regardless of the distance between the affected building and the boundary of the construction site.”.
