Central Provident Fund
(Amendment No. 2) Rules 2024

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(2) of the Central Provident Fund Act 1953, the Central Provident Fund Board makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Rules are the Central Provident Fund (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2024 and, except for rule 4, come into operation on 15 September 2024.

(2) Rule 4 is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

Amendment of rule 2

2. In the Central Provident Fund Rules (R 3) (called in these Rules the principal Rules), in rule 2, replace the definition of “residential address” with —

“ “residential address” means the place of residence of a person as registered under the National Registration Act 1965.”.

Deletion of rule 24

3. In the principal Rules, delete rule 24.

Miscellaneous amendments

4. In the principal Rules —

(a)	in rule 2, in the definition of “identity card”, replace “(Cap. 201)” with “1965”;
(b)	in rule 2, in the definition of “permanent resident”, replace “(Cap. 133)” with “1959”;
(c)	in rule 2, in the definition of “residential address”, after “National Registration Act”, insert “1965”; and
(d)	in rule 3(5), replace “section 8 of the National Registration Act” with “section 10 of the National Registration Act 1965”.
