Central Provident Fund (Investment Schemes) (Amendment) Regulations 2006

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(1)(n) of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Minister for Manpower, after consulting with the Central Provident Fund Board, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Investment Schemes) (Amendment) Regulations 2006 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2007.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. Regulation 2 of the Central Provident Fund (Investment Schemes) Regulations (Rg 9, 2006 Ed.) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “bank”, the following definitions:

“ “bond” includes Treasury Bills issued under the Local Treasury Bills Act (Cap. 167);

“book-entry Treasury Bill” has the same meaning as in section 2 of the Local Treasury Bills Act;”;

(b)

by inserting, immediately after the words “gold savings accounts” in the definition of “gold”, the words “, gold exchange traded funds”; and

(c)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “subsidiary”, the following definition:

“ “Treasury Bill” includes a book-entry Treasury Bill;”.

Amendment of regulation 4

3. Regulation 4 (2) of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “and” at the end of sub-paragraph (c); and

(b)

by deleting the full-stop at the end of sub-paragraph (d) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:

“(e)

gold.”.

Amendment of regulation 22

4. Regulation 22 of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)	by deleting the word “Gold” in paragraph (2) and substituting the words “Any gold, other than a gold exchange traded fund,”; and
(b)	by inserting, immediately after the words “exchange traded fund interest” in paragraph (3), the words “or gold exchange traded fund”.

Amendment of regulation 30

5. Regulation 30 (3) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “(due to the death of member or otherwise)”.
