MediShield Life Scheme
(Amendment No. 3)
Regulations 2018

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 34 of the MediShield Life Scheme Act 2015, the Minister for Health makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations are the MediShield Life Scheme (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 2018 and come into operation on 1 November 2018.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. Regulation 2(1) of the MediShield Life Scheme Regulations 2015 (G.N. No. S 622/2015) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “for cancer” in paragraph (c) of the definition of “approved outpatient treatment”;

(b)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (e) of the definition of “approved outpatient treatment”, the following paragraph:

“(f)	long term parenteral nutrition provided on or after 1 November 2018;”;

(c)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “living donor organ transplant”, the following definition:

“ “long term parenteral nutrition” means parenteral nutrition provided by an approved medical institution to a patient with a condition specified by the Minister on the website at https://www.moh.gov.sg;”; and

(d)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “radiosurgery treatment”, the following definition:

“ “radiotherapy treatment” means the treatment of any malignant disease or certain benign conditions with ionising radiation delivered externally or internally by sealed or unsealed radionuclides and irradiating apparatus;”.

Amendment of regulation 10

3. Regulation 10 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the regulation heading and substituting the following regulation heading:

“Payment of premium, interest or penalty”.

Amendment of Third Schedule

4. Paragraph 2 of the Third Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)	by inserting, immediately after the words “trisomy 18” in sub‑paragraph (b), the words “, with an admission date before 1 November 2018”; and
(b)	by inserting, immediately after the words “alobar holoprosencephaly” in sub‑paragraph (e), the words “, with an admission date before 1 November 2018”.

Amendment of Fourth Schedule

5. Part 2 of the Fourth Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after the item relating to “Subsidised treatment”, the following item:

“

Long term parenteral nutrition

(Non-subsidised)

0.5

”.

Amendment of Sixth Schedule

6. The Sixth Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “for cancer” in item 8(a) to (e); and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after item 11, the following item:

“12.	Long term parenteral nutrition, received as outpatient medical treatment

$1,700 per month”.
