Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2004

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(1)(j) of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Minister for Manpower, after consulting with the Central Provident Fund Board, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2004 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1st December 2004.

Amendment of regulation 16

2. Regulation 16 of the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) Regulations 2001 (G.N. No. S 570/2001) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “or his child aged 18 years or below” in paragraph (1) and substituting the words “or his dependant”;

(b)

by deleting the words “paragraph (1)” in paragraph (2) and substituting the words “paragraph (2)”;

(c)

by inserting, immediately before paragraph (1), the following paragraph:

“(1) Notwithstanding regulation 3, no withdrawal shall be made from a member’s medisave account for the payment of charges incurred for any renal dialysis treatment received on or after 1st December 2004 by any of the following dependants of the member, except with the approval of the Minister for Health or any person designated by the Minister for Health:

(a)	a parent;
(b)	a grandparent who is a citizen or permanent resident of Singapore;
(c)	the spouse; or
(d)	a child above the age of 18 years.”;

(d)

by renumbering the existing paragraph (1) as paragraph (2), and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:

“(3) Where any dependant of a member referred to in paragraph (1) has received renal dialysis treatment on or after 1st December 2004, the withdrawal from the member’s medisave account shall, in addition, be subject to such terms and conditions as the Minister for Health may impose.”; and

(e)

by renumbering the existing paragraphs (2), (3) and (4) as paragraphs (4), (5) and (6), respectively.
