Road Traffic (Chingay 2016 Night Fiesta)
(Exemption) Order 2016

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Order:

Citation

1. This Order is the Road Traffic (Chingay 2016 Night Fiesta) (Exemption) Order 2016.

Definitions

2. In this Order —

“auxiliary police officer” means an individual appointed as an auxiliary police officer under Part IX of the Police Force Act (Cap. 235);

“Chingay 2016 Night Fiesta” means the event known as the Chingay 2016 Night Fiesta to be held at Bishan‑Ang Mo Kio Park on 21 February 2016;

“heavy motor vehicle” has the meaning assigned to it in section 79(6) of the Act;

“specified footway” means the footway of the junction of Marymount Road and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 that is shaded in the map set out in the Schedule.

Exemption

3. Rule 28(1) of the Road Traffic Rules (R 20) does not apply to the driving, parking or riding of any of the following vehicles on the specified footway on 21 February 2016:

(a)	a heavy motor vehicle when used as an extension of the activities at the Chingay 2016 Night Fiesta, and under escort by an auxiliary police officer;
(b)	a motor cycle used by an auxiliary police officer when escorting the vehicle in sub‑paragraph (a).
