(Amendment) Regulations 2024

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 47, 100 and 216 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations are the Merchant Shipping (Training, Certification and Manning) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 and come into operation on 1 November 2024.

Amendment of regulation 9

2. In the Merchant Shipping (Training, Certification and Manning) Regulations (Rg 1) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations), in regulation 9 —

(a)	in paragraph (6), delete “and the person shall, on being so required by the Director, forthwith deliver his certificate of recognition to the Director to cancel the endorsement attesting to the recognition of the certificate”; and
(b)	delete paragraph (7).

Amendment of regulation 10A

3. In the principal Regulations, in regulation 10A —

(a)	in paragraph (4), delete “and the person shall, on being so required by the Director, forthwith deliver his type rating certificate or WIG craft officer certificate to the Director for cancellation”; and
(b)	delete paragraph (5).

Replacement of regulation 26

4. In the principal Regulations, replace regulation 26 with —

“Cancellation and suspension of certificate

26. Any certificate issued by the Director under these Regulations may be cancelled or suspended by him if the holder of the certificate fails to comply with any of the provisions of these Regulations.”.
