“authorising officer” means the State Coroner or the Coroner hearing the inquiry for which the assessor was appointed.
Remuneration of assessors
3.—(1)  An assessor shall be remunerated at the rate of $100 per hour or part thereof, for his attendance in court and for work done to assist the Coroner in connection with an inquiry, subject to a maximum of $700 per day.
(2)  An assessor shall, in addition to paragraph (1), be paid a transport allowance under regulation 4.
Transport allowance
4.  An assessor may be allowed for each day’s attendance in court a fixed sum, not exceeding $20, as the authorising officer thinks fit, as transport allowance for travel between the place where his attendance is required and his place of stay in Singapore, regardless of the mode of transport actually used or the actual expense or charge incurred for the transport.
Time for submission of claims
5.  An assessor must submit his claim in respect of his remuneration (including the transport allowance) to the authorising officer in such form as the authorising officer may require no later than 2 months after accrual of the claim.

Certification of remuneration
7.  Where the authorising officer approves the remuneration to be paid to an assessor under these Regulations, the authorising officer shall issue a certificate certifying the sum to be paid to the assessor.
