Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act
(Chapter 248)
Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics (Amendment) Regulations 2000
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 22 of the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act, the Minister for Health hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into operation on 7th January 2000.
Amendment of regulation 5
2.  Regulation 5 of the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Regulations (Rg 1) is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:
(1)  The fee payable for any licence or any renewal thereof shall be as specified in the Fourth Schedule.”.
New Fourth Schedule
3.  The Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Regulations are amended by inserting, immediately after the Third Schedule, the following Schedule:
FOURTH SCHEDULE
Regulation 5(1)
Fees
1. Subject to paragraphs 2 and 3, the fees payable for the various licences issued under section 5 of the Act shall be as follows:
(a) for a licence issued to a private hospital, other than a maternity home and a nursing home, having —
(i) 1,000 beds or more
$3,750 per year
(ii) 100 to 999 beds
$2,750 per year
(iii) less than 100 beds
$1,500 per year
(b) for a licence issued to a maternity home
$ 500 per year
(c) for a licence issued to a nursing home
$ 500 per year
(d) for a licence issued to —
 
(i) a medical clinic or a dental clinic; or
 
(ii) a clinic that is both a medical and a dental clinic,
 
that is used by a total of not more than 5 medical practitioners or dentists for their practice
$ 300 per year
(e) for a licence issued to —
 
(i) a medical clinic or a dental clinic; or
 
(ii) a clinic that is both a medical and a dental clinic,
 
that is used by a total of more than 5 medical practitioners or dentists for their practice
$ 500 per year
(f) for a licence issued to a clinical laboratory
$ 750 per year
(g) for a licence issued to a private hospital or medical clinic which is a charity under the Charities Act (Cap. 37)
$ 12 for 2 years or part thereof.
2. Where a clinic referred to in paragraph 1 (d) or (e) provides any special care service as specified in the Third Schedule, there shall be payable for a licence issued to such clinic, in addition to the appropriate fee specified in paragraph 1 (d) or (e), as the case may be —
(a) a fee of $500 per year; or
(b) where the licence for such clinic is issued for any period other than one year, a fee in such amount that is computed on a pro rata basis from the fee specified in sub-paragraph (a).
3. Where a licence for a private hospital, medical clinic, clinical laboratory or healthcare establishment, not being a private hospital or medical clinic as specified in paragraph 1 (g), is issued for any period other than one year, the fee payable for such licence shall be computed on a pro rata basis from the appropriate licence fee as specified in paragraph 1.”.
