Business Names Registration (Direction under
section 17(1)(d)) Notification 2015

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 17(1)(d) of the Business Names Registration Act 2014, the Minister for Finance makes the following Notification:

Citation and commencement

1. This Notification may be cited as the Business Names Registration (Direction under section 17(1)(d)) Notification 2015 and comes into operation on 3 January 2016.

Direction under section 17(1)(d) of Act

2.—(1) The Minister directs that, subject to sub-paragraph (2), the Registrar must not accept for registration the word “Temasek” in any registered business name.

(2) Sub-paragraph (1) does not apply if the person applying to be registered as carrying on business, whether as a sole proprietor or as a partner, under the business name is Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited, a company incorporated under the Companies Act (Cap. 50) (Registration No. 197401143C).

Revocation

3. The Directions under section 13(1)(d) (Cap. 32, Dir 1) are revoked.
