Business Names Registration
(Amendment) Regulations 2024
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 43 of the Business Names Registration Act 2014, the Minister for Finance makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Business Names Registration (Amendment) Regulations 2024 and come into operation on 9 December 2024.
Amendment of regulation 8
2.  In the Business Names Registration Regulations 2015 (G.N. No. S 825/2015) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations), in regulation 8(b)(ii), replace “address” with “residential address, contact address”.
New regulations 11A and 11B
3.  In the principal Regulations, after regulation 11, insert —
Excluded documents under section 28(4) of Act
11A.  For the purposes of section 28(4) of the Act, the following documents filed or lodged with, or obtained by, the Registrar on or after 9 December 2024, are excluded documents to which section 28(1) of the Act does not apply:
(a)a document (other than a form mentioned in regulation 11B) that contains any of the following information about an individual:
(i)the individual’s date of birth;
(ii)the individual’s residential address;
(iii)the individual’s email address;
(iv)the individual’s mobile telephone number;
(b)where an application is lodged to reserve a name as a person’s proposed registered business name under section 16(1) of the Act — any other document lodged in respect of the application;
(c)where a person has applied to the Registrar to give a direction to any other person to change that other person’s registered business name under section 17(6) of the Act — any other document lodged by the person and that other person in respect of the application;
(d)where an application to change a person’s registered business name is lodged under section 18(1) of the Act — any other document lodged in respect of the application;
(e)where a notice mentioned in section 21(1)(a), (b) or (c) of the Act is lodged on behalf or in respect of a deceased person or deceased partner — any other document lodged in respect of the notice.
Prescribed information under section 28(5)(c) of Act
11B.  For the purposes of section 28(5)(c) of the Act, the reference to a document in section 28(1) of the Act excludes the following entries in a form submitted on the electronic transaction system:
(a)a person’s email address;
(b)an individual’s residential address;
(c)an individual’s mobile telephone number.”.
Amendment of First Schedule
4.  In the principal Regulations, in the First Schedule, delete item 11.
Replacement of Second Schedule
5.  In the principal Regulations, replace the Second Schedule with —

Transitional provision
6.  Despite regulation 5, the Second Schedule to the principal Regulations as in force immediately before 9 December 2024 continues to apply to the late filing or lodgment of a document under the Act, where that document was required to be filed or lodged before that date.
