(Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing)
(Amendment No. 5) Rules 2024

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Minister for Transport makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 5) Rules 2024 and come into operation on 1 January 2025.

Amendment of rule 9AB

2. In the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5), in rule 9AB —

(a)	in the rule heading, replace “2024” with “2025”; and
(b)	in paragraphs (1), (2)(b)(ii) and (8), replace “31 December 2024” with “31 December 2025”.

Amendment of rule 10

3. In the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules, in rule 10 —

(a)

in the rule heading, replace “2024” with “2025”;

(b)

in paragraph (1)(a)(i) and (ii), replace “2024” with “2025”;

(c)

in paragraph (2), replace sub‑paragraph (a) with —

“(a)

where the emission level of any of the prescribed vehicular emissions from the vehicle falls within Band A2 for that emission —

(i)	for a vehicle first registered as a motor car (other than a taxi) between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2020 (both dates inclusive) — $10,000;
(ii)	for a vehicle first registered as a motor car (other than a taxi) between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2023 (both dates inclusive) — $15,000;
(iii)	for a vehicle first registered as a motor car (other than a taxi) between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024 (both dates inclusive) — $5,000;
(iv)	for a vehicle first registered as a motor car (other than a taxi) between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2025 (both dates inclusive) — $2,500;
(v)	for a vehicle first registered as a taxi between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2020 (both dates inclusive) — $15,000;
(vi)	for a vehicle first registered as a taxi between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2023 (both dates inclusive) — $22,500;
(vii)	for a vehicle first registered as a taxi between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024 (both dates inclusive) — $7,500; and
(viii)	for a vehicle first registered as a taxi between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2025 (both dates inclusive) — $3,750;”; and

(d)

in paragraphs (2)(b)(ii) and (iv) and (7A)(a) and (b), replace “2024” with “2025”.
