(Chapter 1)

Delegation of Powers (Ministry of Law) Notification 1997

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36(1) of the Interpretation Act, the Minister for Law hereby makes the following Notification:

Citation and commencement

1. This Notification may be cited as the Delegation of Powers (Ministry of Law) Notification 1997 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 17th March 1997.

Delegation of powers

2. The Minister for Law, with the approval of the President, hereby deputes the Minister of State, Ministry of Law, to exercise the powers of the Minister under —

(a)	sections 310, 315, 316, 318 and 319 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cap. 68);
(b)	section 36(1) of the Moneylenders Act (Cap. 188);
(c)	section 20(5) of the Pawnbrokers Act (Cap. 222);
(d)	sections 86, 87 and 91 of the Land Titles (Strata) Act (Cap. 158);
(e)	section 6 of the Trustees Act (Cap. 337) read in conjunction with section 40 of the Town Councils Act (Cap. 329A);
(f)	section 89 of the Patents Act (Cap. 221);
(g)	section 151 of the Copyright Act (Cap. 63);
(h)	section 26 of the Land Acquisition Act (Cap. 152);
(i)	section 4 of the Land Surveyors Act (Cap. 156);
(j)	sections 3, 4, 6, 7, 10 and 11 of the Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act (Cap. 169); and
(k)	sections 3, 4, 5, 6 and 11 of the Maintenance Orders (Facilities for Enforcement) Act (Cap. 168).

Consequential amendments

3.—(1) The Schedule to the Delegation of Powers (Consolidation) Notification (N 3) is amended by deleting the heading “MINISTRY OF LAW” and the entries relating thereto.

(2) The Schedule to the Delegation of Powers (Consolidation) Notification (N 7) is amended by deleting the heading “MINISTRY OF LAW” and the entries relating thereto.

(3) The Schedule to the Delegation of Powers (Consolidation) Notification (N 8) is amended by deleting the heading “MINISTRY OF LAW” and the entries relating thereto.
