Betting (Singapore Totalisator Board — Exemption) Notification 2004

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 22(1) of the Betting Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Notification:

Citation and commencement

1. This Notification may be cited as the Betting (Singapore Totalisator Board — Exemption) Notification 2004 and shall come into operation on 1st May 2004.

Exemption

2.—(1) The following organisations and persons are hereby exempted from the provisions of the Act in respect of the promotion, organisation, administration or operation of any betting described in sub-paragraph (2):

(a)	the Singapore Totalisator Board and its officers; and
(b)	the Singapore Pools (Private) Ltd. and its officers and authorised agents where the betting is promoted, organised, administered or operated for or on behalf of the Singapore Totalisator Board.

(2) The exemption under sub-paragraph (1) shall apply in respect of any betting done in connection with —

(a)

any of the public lotteries known as —

(i)	Singapore Big Sweep Draw;
(ii)	Toto Games Draw;
(iii)	4-Digit Numbers Games Draw; and
(iv)	Scratchit; [S 698/2004 wef 23/11/2004]

(b)

any S. League football match in Singapore;

(c)

any other football match in Singapore (not being an S. League football match) that is organised, sanctioned in writing or hosted by the Football Association of Singapore; and

(d)

any football match outside Singapore that is organised, sanctioned or hosted by —

(i)	the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (referred to in this Notification as FIFA) or any of its member confederations or member national associations; or
(ii)	a body which is an assign or a successor of FIFA or any of its member confederations or member national associations.

(3) The exemption under sub-paragraph (1) shall be subject to such conditions as the Minister may, from time to time, specify in writing to the organisations and persons referred to in that sub-paragraph.

Cancellation

3. The following Notifications are cancelled:

(a)	Betting (Singapore Pools (Private) Ltd. — Exemption) Notification (N 1);
(b)	Betting (Sports Betting — Exemption) Notification (N 3);
(c)	Betting (International Football Matches Betting — Exemption) Notification (N 4, 2004 Ed.); and
(d)	Betting (Non-S. League Football Matches Betting — Exemption) Notification (N 5, 2004 Ed.).
