Betting and Sweepstake Duties Act
(Chapter 22)
Betting and Sweepstake Duties (Exempt Organisation) Order 2006
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 3 and 6 of the Betting and Sweepstake Duties Act, the Minister for Finance hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order may be cited as the Betting and Sweepstake Duties (Exempt Organisation) Order 2006 and shall come into operation on 10th November 2006.
Exempt organisation
2.  For the purposes of section 3(1) of the Act, the Minister hereby specifies Capital Events Private Limited as an exempt organisation in respect of the Betfair Asian Poker Tour (Singapore) to be held from 12th November 2006 to 18th November 2006 (both dates inclusive).
Duty on betting
3.—(1)  The duty charged under section 3 of the Act in respect of every bet made at the Betfair Asian Poker Tour (Singapore) shall be 25% of the amount of the bet.
(2)  The duty referred to in sub-paragraph (1) shall be paid, and the statement referred to in section 6(1)(b) of the Act which relates to that duty shall be delivered, to the Commissioner by 4th December 2006 or such later date as the Commissioner may allow under section 6(3) of the Act.
(3)  The amount of goods and services tax charged on the supply of the betting transactions shall be excluded in calculating the amount of the bet referred to in sub-paragraph (1).
