Central Provident Fund Act
(Chapter 36)
Central Provident Fund (Restrictions on Withdrawal from Medisave Account) (Exemption) Order 2006
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 69 of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Minister for Manpower hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Restrictions on Withdrawal from Medisave Account) (Exemption) Order 2006 and shall come into operation on 1st July 2006.
Exemption for member who is physically or mentally incapacitated, etc.
2.  Section 16 of the Act shall not apply to a member of the Fund if —
(a)he is entitled under section 15 (2)(d), (e), (f) or (g) of the Act to withdraw the sum standing to his credit in the Fund;
(b)he has applied to the Minister to be exempted from section 16 of the Act;
(c)the Minister has approved his application; and
(d)he complies with all conditions imposed by the Minister for the approval of his application.
Exemption for committee of member who is physically or mentally incapacitated, etc.
3.  Section 16 of the Act shall not apply to a committee of the person or estate of a member of the Fund appointed under the Mental Disorders and Treatment Act (Cap. 178) if —
(a)the member is entitled under section 15 (2)(d), (e), (f) or (g) of the Act to withdraw the sum standing to his credit in the Fund;
(b)the committee has applied to the Minister to be exempted from section 16 of the Act;
(c)the Minister has approved the application; and
(d)the committee complies with all conditions imposed by the Minister for the approval of the application.
