Merchant Shipping Act
(Chapter 179)
Merchant Shipping (Composition of Offences) Regulations 1997
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 216 of the Merchant Shipping Act, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Communications, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Composition of Offences) Regulations 1997 and shall come into operation on 20th June 1997.
Composition of offences
2.  The offences referred to in sections 48, 49(1), 53(5), 57(5), 73(2), 89(4), 91(5), 100(5), 103(2), 104(3) and (4), 105(2), 107(2), 109(2) and 212(2) of the Act may be compounded by the Director of Marine in accordance with section 205(2) of the Act.
Revocation
3.  The Merchant Shipping (Composition of Offences) Regulations (Rg 16) are revoked.
