Professional Engineers)
(Exemption) Order 2016

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Professional Engineers Act, the Minister for National Development makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order is the Professional Engineers (Qualification for Registration as Professional Engineers) (Exemption) Order 2016 and comes into operation on 1 January 2017.

Exemption

2. The Minister exempts, from section 15(2) of the Act, any person who —

(a)

applies for registration as a professional engineer in the branch of chemical engineering no later than 6 months after 1 January 2017; and

(b)

on the date of the application —

(i)	has a degree or qualification approved under section 15(1)(a) of the Act in respect of the branch of chemical engineering; and
(ii)	has, after obtaining the degree or qualification mentioned in sub‑paragraph (i), acquired at least 5 years of such practical experience (whether in Singapore or elsewhere) in the branch of chemical engineering as may be acceptable to the Board.
