Citation
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Parliamentary Pensions (Pensionable Allowances) Regulations.
Allowances to be pensionable allowances
2.—(1)  The allowances which are payable as annual wage increases for the year 1978 and subsequent years pursuant to the recommendations of the National Wages Council (excluding any additional allowances constituting second tier payments) shall be pensionable allowances to be taken into account in computing any pension or gratuity under the Act.
(2)  For the avoidance of doubt, the following payments are not pensionable allowances to be taken into account in computing any pension or gratuity under the Act:
(a)the Variable Bonus which was paid for the years 1988 to 1991;
(b)the Annual Variable Component which is payable for the year 1992 and subsequent years; and
(c)the Non-Pensionable Variable Payment which is payable monthly for the year 1993 and subsequent years.
Regulations to apply to Members
3.  These Regulations shall apply to the grant of any pension or gratuity under the Act only in respect of any Member or office-holding Member —
(a)who has ceased to be a Member or to hold office on or after 1st January 1982; or
(b)who is granted a pension under section 5 of the Act on or after 1st October 1982.
