Taxi Fares

It is hereby notified for general information that, pursuant to section 20(1) of the Public Transport Council Act, the Public Transport Council has approved, with effect from 1st October 1997, the following amendments to the rates of hire of a taxi.

2. The Schedule to Gazette Notification No. S 269/97 is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “items (7), (10) and (11)” in the first column of item (15) and substituting the words “items (7), (10), (11) and (17)”; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after item (16), the following item:

“(17)

Each time a taxi is hired to drive into —

(a)	the restricted zone as defined in the Road Traffic (Restricted Zone and Area Licences) Rules (Cap. 276, R 12) during the restricted hours as defined in those Rules where there is in force in respect of the taxi a valid area licence;

an additional 50 cents for the whole journey.

(b)	any specified entry point on a road as set out in Part I or II of the First Schedule to the Road Traffic (Road Pricing) Rules (Cap. 276, R 35) during the restricted hours as defined in those Rules where there is in force in respect of the taxi a valid road pricing licence;

an additional 50 cents for the whole journey.

(c)

any specified entry point on a road as set out in Part I of the First Schedule to the Road Traffic (Road Pricing) Rules during the restricted hours as defined in those Rules and into the restricted zone referred to in paragraph (a) where there are in force in respect of the taxi a valid road pricing licence and a valid area licence; or

an additional 50 cents for the whole journey.

(d)

any specified entry point on a road as set out in Part II of the First Schedule to the Road Traffic (Road Pricing) Rules during the restricted hours as defined in those Rules and into the restricted zone referred to in paragraph (a) where there are in force in respect of the taxi a valid road pricing licence and a valid area licence.

an additional $1 for the whole journey.”.
