Road Traffic Act
(Chapter 276)
Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles, Bus Chartering) (Exemption) Order 1999
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Communications and Information Technology hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles, Bus Chartering) (Exemption) Order 1999 and shall come into operation on 30th August 1999.
Exemption
2.—(1)  Buses belonging to the companies set out in Part I of the Schedule and which are used for the purpose of carrying passengers for hire or reward shall be exempted from section 101 of the Act except where such buses are used —
(a)for the purpose of carrying passengers for hire or reward during the periods specified in Part II of the Schedule; or
(b)for scheduled services.
(2)  The Registrar may permit buses belonging to the companies set out in Part I of the Schedule to be used for hire or reward, other than for scheduled services, during the periods specified in Part II of the Schedule.
(3)  For the purpose of sub-paragraph (2), an application shall be made by the company to the Registrar in such form as the Registrar may require.
Miscellaneous amendments
3.—(1)  The Schedule to the Road Traffic (Exemption) (Consolidation) Order (O 2) is amended —
(a)by deleting the item relating to G.N. No. S 354/81; and
(b)by deleting the item relating to G.N. No. S 156/85.
(2)  The Road Traffic (Exemption) Order 1984 (G.N. S 178/84) is revoked.
