Road Traffic
(Vehicles Used for Summit between
the United States of America and
the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea —
Exemption) Order 2018
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport makes the following Order:
Citation and period in force
1.—(1)  This Order is the Road Traffic (Vehicles Used for Summit between the United States of America and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea — Exemption) Order 2018.
(2)  This Order is in force —
(a)in relation to the vehicle bearing the vehicle identification number mentioned in paragraph (o) of the definition of “relevant vehicle” in paragraph 2(2), for the period between 30 May 2018 and 15 June 2018 (both dates inclusive); and
(b)in relation to the vehicles bearing the vehicle identification numbers mentioned in paragraphs (a) to (n) of the definition of “relevant vehicle” in paragraph 2(2), for the period between 7 June 2018 and 15 June 2018 (both dates inclusive).
Exemption
2.—(1)  The following provisions of the Act and rules made under the Act do not apply to any relevant vehicle that is driven in connection with the specified purpose:
(a)Parts I, IA and V of the Act;
(b)the Road Traffic (Electronic Road Pricing System) Rules 2015 (G.N. No. S 226/2015);
(c)the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Construction and Use) Rules (R 9);
(d)the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Lighting) Rules (R 10);
(e)the Road Traffic (Regulation of Speed) Rules (R 13);
(f)the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Seat Belts) Rules (R 15);
(g)the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Rear and Side Markings) Rules (R 18);
(h)the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Speed Warning Device) Rules (R 19);
(i)the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test) Rules (R 21);
(j)the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Speed Limiters) Rules (R 39).
(2)  In this Order —
“related activity” is an activity in Singapore involving any representative of the United States of America or the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea attending the Summit meeting;
“relevant vehicle” means a vehicle bearing any of the following vehicle identification numbers:

“specified purpose” means conveying any non‑citizen individual taking part at or joining in the Summit meeting or in related activities, to or from any place within Singapore;
“Summit meeting” means the series of meetings between representatives of the United States of America and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea taking place in Singapore between 10 June 2018 and 14 June 2018 (both dates inclusive), and includes any lead‑in and lead‑out activities and social events connected with the Summit meeting.
