Singapore Civil Defence Force Long Service and
Good Conduct Medal Rules 2007
The President is pleased to approve the institution of a medal to be styled “The Singapore Civil Defence Force Long Service and Good Conduct (10 Years) Medal” and a medal to be styled “The Singapore Civil Defence Force Long Service and Good Conduct (30 Years) Medal”, the award of which shall be governed by the following Rules:
PART I
PRELIMINARY
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Singapore Civil Defence Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Rules 2007 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 8th August 2007.
Definitions
2.—(1)  In these Rules, unless the context otherwise requires —
“10 Years Medal” means the Medal referred to in rule 3;
“30 Years Medal” means the Medal referred to in rule 8;
“Clasp” means the Clasp referred to in rule 4(2);
“eligible person” means any person who is or who was —
(a)an officer appointed under or a serviceman enlisted in the Singapore Civil Defence Force under section 7(1) of the Civil Defence Act (Cap. 42);
(b)an officer deemed to be appointed under the Civil Defence Act by virtue of section 60 of the Fire Safety Act (Cap. 109A);
(c)an auxiliary member recruited on a part-time basis under section 7(2) of the Civil Defence Act; or
(d)a person deemed to have been enlisted in the Singapore Civil Defence Force under section 9(1) of the Civil Defence Act (Cap. 42), and is or was rendering his reserve service in the Force;
“qualifying service” means the total of the following periods (less any period or periods that are deducted under rule 4(3) or 9(2)):
(a)full-time service in the Singapore Civil Defence Force;
(b)full-time service in the Singapore Armed Forces or the Singapore Police Service rendered immediately prior to the person’s absorption (without break in service) as an officer in the Singapore Civil Defence Force;
(c)part-time service in the Singapore Civil Defence Force or the Singapore Police Service;
(d)reserve service in the Singapore Civil Defence Force, the Singapore Armed Forces or the Singapore Police Service, provided no account shall be taken of any period during which he was exempted from such reserve service;
“service” means full-time service, reserve service, regular service, mobilised service, national service or voluntary service;
“Singapore Armed Forces” means the force raised and maintained in accordance with the Singapore Armed Forces Act (Cap. 295);
“Singapore Civil Defence Force” means the force raised and maintained in accordance with the Civil Defence Act;
“Singapore Police Service” means service in any of the following:
(a)the Singapore Police Force;
(b)the Singapore Prison Service;
(c)the Central Narcotics Bureau;
(d)the Special Constabulary;
(e)the Vigilante Corps.
(2)  Any reference in these Rules to a period of reserve service rendered by a person shall include a reference to the period in which such person was liable for reserve services.
