Work Injury Compensation
(Exemption from Section 30)
Order 2020
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 79(1) of the Work Injury Compensation Act 2019, the Minister for Manpower makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order is the Work Injury Compensation (Exemption from Section 30) Order 2020 and comes into operation on 1 September 2020.
Definitions
2.  In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires, “deemed approved policy”, “interim policy” and “licensed insurer” have the meanings given by the Work Injury Compensation (Saving and Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2020 (G.N. No. S 732/2020).
Exemption
3.—(1)   The following persons (not being any person mentioned in section 30(2) of the Act) are exempted from liability for an offence under section 30(1) of the Act by reason of offering, or entering into a contract, before 1 January 2021 to provide an interim policy to an employer in respect of the employer’s liability to pay compensation under the Act:
(a)a licensed insurer;
(b)an insurance intermediary in respect of the interim policy provided or to be provided by a licensed insurer.
(2)  The following persons are exempted from liability for an offence under section 30(3) of the Act by reason of offering, or entering into a contract, before 1 January 2021 to provide a deemed approved policy to an employer in respect of the employer’s liability to pay compensation under the Act:
(a)a licensed insurer;
(b)an insurance intermediary in respect of the deemed approved policy provided or to be provided by a licensed insurer.
