Whereas section 355(2) of the Companies Act provides that the Minister may by proclamation published in the Gazette declare to be an investment company any corporation which is engaged primarily in the making of investments in marketable securities for the purpose of revenue and for profit and not for the purpose of exercising control:
And whereas an investment company declared by proclamation of the Minister shall be subject to the regulatory provisions under Part XI Division I of the Companies Act:
And whereas General Securities Investments Limited is a public company incorporated in Singapore on 28th November 1974 which is engaged primarily in the making of investments in marketable securities for the purpose of revenue and for profit and not for the purpose of exercising control:
Now, therefore, I, Hon Sui Sen, Minister for Finance, do hereby proclaim, by virtue of the powers conferred upon me by section 355(2) of the Companies Act, that General Securities Investments Limited be an investment company.
