Singapore Armed Forces Good Service Medal Rules 1975 |

1. These Rules may be cited as the Singapore Armed Forces Good Service Medal Rules ,1975, and shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1975. |
2. In these Rules, the expression “qualifying service” means all the time an officer or soldier has served —

4. The following provisions shall apply in computing the period qualifying for the award of the Medal:—

5. When initiating a recommendation, the originator shall be responsible for recommending those personnel whose service and performance have been satisfactory. |
6. The Medal shall be awarded by the Director of Manpower. |
7. A register of the names of the persons to whom the Medal is awarded shall be kept in the Ministry of Defence. |
8.—(1) The Armed Forces Council may forfeit any Medal awarded to any person under these Rules if he —

9. Where a Medal is lost or destroyed it may be replaced on payment made by the recipient of a sum sufficient to cover its costs provided that a statement made by the recipient explaining the circumstances leading to its loss or destruction is considered satisfactory by the Director of Manpower. |
10. The Medal shall be of cupronickel 33 millimetres in diameter and 3 millimetres in thickness and having on the obverse side thereof the Singapore Flag with the figure of a soldier in the centre. In the centre of the reverse side thereof shall be the inscription “FOR GOOD SERVICE” encircled by a laurel wreath. |
11.—(1) The Medal shall be worn on the left side of the outer garment suspended by a ribbon 33 millimetres in width and 50 millimetres in length.

12. The Medal and the ribbon shall be of the design set out in the Schedule to these Rules. |
