The Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang (The Distinguished Service Order) Rules 1996 |

1. These Rules may be cited as the Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang (The Distinguished Service Order) Rules 1996 and shall come into operation on 2nd August 1996. |
2. The Order shall be designated and styled the Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang or the Distinguished Service Order. |
4. The Badge of the Distinguished Service Order shall consist, on the obverse side, of a bronze enamelled circle depressed inwards on 4 opposite points with the words “DARJAH UTAMA BAKTI CEMERLANG” in letters of gold inscribed thereon. A wreath in green enamel shall surround the circle. In the centre of the circle there shall be a red shield on a white enamelled background bearing a crescent and 5 stars with a scroll below carrying the inscription “MAJULAH SINGAPURA”. The reverse side of the Badge shall bear the State Arms. |
5. The Badge shall be of the design as set out in the Schedule. |
6. The Badge of the Distinguished Service Order shall be worn as a neck decoration pendant from a ribbon which shall consist of a red centre band flanked on each side by a white stripe with a narrow red stripe followed by a red band and a white band, in that order. |
7.—(1) Where any act deserving of the award of the Order is performed by a person to whom the Order has already been awarded, the act may be recognised by the award of a Bar to the Badge.

8. The names of the persons to whom the Order or a Bar thereto is awarded shall be published in the Gazette and a register of such names shall be kept in the office of the Prime Minister. |
9. The President may cancel and annul the award of the Order or any Bar to any person if the person is convicted of a criminal offence or is found guilty of misconduct or disloyalty to Singapore. |
10.—(1) The Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang (The Distinguished Service Order) Rules 1968 (G.N. No. S 235/68) (hereafter referred to as the revoked Rules) are revoked.
