Pingat Bakti Setia (Polis) (The Long Service
Medal — Police) Rules 2007
The President is pleased to approve the institution of a medal to be styled “The Pingat Bakti Setia (Polis) (The Long Service Medal — Police)”, the award of which shall be governed by the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Pingat Bakti Setia (Polis) (The Long Service Medal — Police) Rules 2007 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 8th August 2007.
Designation of Medal
2.  The Medal shall be designated and styled the Pingat Bakti Setia (Polis) or the Long Service Medal (Police).
Award of Medal
3.—(1)  The Medal may be awarded to any person who has completed at least 25 years of continuous and unbroken service in the Singapore Police Force as —
(a)a uniformed Singapore Police Force operationally ready national serviceman; or
(b)a volunteer enrolled as a member of the Special Constabulary deemed to be constituted under section 66(1) of the Police Force Act (Cap. 235).

(2)  The period of full-time national service completed by the serviceman shall be included in the computation of service for the purposes of paragraph (1).
Description of Medal
4.—(1)  The Medal shall consist of a 10-sided shape in 925 sterling silver and shall measure 38 mm in width and 3 mm in thickness.
(2)  The obverse side of the Medal shall bear the Singapore State Crest with the inscription “POLIS REPABLIK SINGAPURA” beneath the Singapore State Crest.
(3)  The reverse side of the Medal shall bear the Singapore Police crest encircled by the inscription “PINGAT BAKTI SETIA (POLIS)”.
(4)  The Medal shall be of the design set out in the Schedule.
Wearing of Medal
5.—(1)  The Medal shall be worn by the recipient on the left side of the outer garment suspended by a ribbon 34 mm in width and 50 mm in length.
(2)  The ribbon shall have vertical stripes in red and white.
(3)  The centre of the ribbon shall have a red strip of 22 mm in width and is flanked on each side by a white stripe of 6 mm in width.
Name to be inscribed on Medal
6.  The name of the person to whom the Medal is awarded shall be inscribed on the back of the Medal.
Publication of award
7.  The names of the persons to whom the Medal is awarded shall be published in the Gazette.
Forfeiture of Medal
8.—(1)  The President may forfeit any Medal awarded to any person under these Rules if the person —
(a)is dismissed or dishonourably discharged from service in the Singapore Police Service;
(b)is convicted of any criminal offence; or
(c)is guilty of misconduct or disloyalty to Singapore.
(2)  Any Medal forfeited may be restored by the President.
(3)  A notice of the forfeiture or restoration of any Medal shall be published in the Gazette.
